Yoga helps us to become aware of our body. More body awareness, more awareness of our true self. The body is directly connected to our soul. The body is the home of the spirit. We need movement as well as sleep. We have always been walkers and our body has an incredible performance in many environments, we can walk, run, crawl, climb, dance and many other movements, our body is an evolutionary jewel. Yoga is the “yoke that joins the two oxen”, the union of our body with our mind. The spirit expresses itself through our body, so the first step towards self-love is to love our body. By moving the body, by feeling the life in us, by feeling and letting our spirit express itself freely, we make our thoughts and emotions positive and fill us with light and energy. Become one with your thoughts, emotions and soul. No separation. As my teacher says, yoga is 1% theory and 99% practice. So feel it and be present. Yoga is divided into eight parts which I will describe in this class. The asanas are part of those eight, the asanas are not as most people think for the body, the asanas help to change your mind. They are for the mind. If we spend most of the day with thoughts and emotions that pull us down, we can’t claim to be happy and love ourselves. Because the end of it all is love for ourselves, it’s all about the respect, forgiveness and love we have for each other. We are all on the same earth and the speed of thought is much faster than the speed of light. So celebrate life with me!
