As we step into a new decade beyond 2020, we transit from the information age into the Internet age. More and more, we became more reliant on the Internet to perform daily functions for work, school and play. These daily task could include doing market research, buying a container of raw materials, groceries for the week, your lunch or even the components needed for the children’s science project. We even watch more video clips through Internet stream than visit the cinema! During the Covid-19 global pandemic, many cities were on lockdown and many like you and I were stuck at home and became even more dependent on the Internet for the above functions. Therefore, cyber hygiene is necessary - not just for adults but everyone that goes online. Cyber hygiene is NOT a technical topic that involves programming and coding, but it is a basic necessity for navigating safely in the digital internet age. Just like washing hands before eating is a part of personal hygiene, we need to have good cyber hygiene before we go on the Internet. Thus, there is an urgent need for cyber hygiene now! In this course, topics covered will include trends and legal considerations of data protection. The crux of the content will be spend providing an overview of cyber threats and how to prevent them and it is my hope that you will learn and share them with friends, colleagues and love ones to keep them safe from the dangers that lurk when being online.
